The 2016 Season Approaches & Updates on Some Dassett Graduates

3rd March 2016

With the start of the 2016 season only days away, the sleet and hail is not making us feel like spring is in the air just yet!

Kate's horses have been on good form, having had a few jumping lessons with Nigel Taylor and a cross country school on Aston-le-Walls' fabulous surface.  Lizzie Murray has also been a couple of times throughout February, helping everyone get back into the dressage ways.   Although we anticipate a good strong neck strap is still going to be required this weekend...!

Craig has enjoyed his first few World Class Equine Pathway training days and has even ventured to Swalciffe for a cross country school on grass!  Sadly Dassett Romance has given her fetlock a real whack in the field, and although she is sound, we have pulled her from her first few runs to allow the bruising to properly heal.  She will be ready to compete early April, so not much time will be lost.  The lovely Kilmullen Dassett is looking on great form this spring, so the whole yard is excited to see what she can continue to achieve this year.

Hayley is excited to have a new ride in the form of 'Tiny'!  He is a seriously cute 6 year old and are deciding on a 'Dassett' name at present.  Her other rides are all going well, and Dassett Master seems all the more mature for taking some time to grow over the winter.  Hayley has also been busy getting the trio of new 5 year olds up and going - all of which could not be more different!  Watch this space for details on their progress.

On the sales front, we wish Dassett Real Prospect all the best State side with Liz Halliday, and the same to the gorgeous 'Rocco', another horse beautifully produced by Carolyne Ryan-Bell, who will fly to America this weekend.  Ellen Svennerstal recently purchased Sapphire Blue B, and we hope the grey gelding lives up to all our expectations!

We had great news from Italy, where a jumper we sold last year has won several of his age classes - watch out for 'Dassetts Darco'!  And such fabulous news for Elspeth Jamieson and Dassett Cooley Designed, who have won the Bedmax Young Rider Scholarship - such an achievement - congratulations!  Dassett Courage has made the New Zealand High Performance Eventing Squad with his jockey, Blyth Tait, and they pair hope to make their 4* debut this season, whilst Dan Joclyn and Dassett Cool Touch are on New Zealand's High Performance Accelerator Squad.  We keep hearing great results from our young horses in the USA (where eventing has been running for several weeks now), with OS Dassett Player and LVS Dassett Charisma placing with Lucia and Benita Strini, Dassett Lawman is winning rosettes with Lesley Law, and Dassett Choice is continuing to be a star with Rebecca Brown.

We wish everyone a great, and safe, 2016 season.
