Happy New Year!

18th January 2016

Despite being two months away from the start of the 2016 eventing season, it is easy to feel the off season is behind us when the BE schedules arrive and balllot dates loom!

All horses and staff had a lovely break over Christmas and New Year, with the yard swinging back into action on 4th January (Charlotte's birthday!), as the horses were collected from the fields and staff tried to acclimatise themselves to the dark mornings and mud!  There is always a sigh of relief when all horses come in with their limbs properly attached and no nasty cuts or bruises.  The only sad case has been Dassett Saratoga (Benny), who has spent the Christmas period in hospital with a random liver infection.  He was very ill for some time, but is now on the mend and we are hopeful he will make a full recovery.  He will miss the start of the competitive season, but hopefully he will make up for it later in the year!  The good news is that his condition is not contagious, so no one else is at risk.  Get better soon Benny!

We are pleased to welcome Keira Sheath to our team for the 2016 season, as she joins us on an apprenticeship scheme through Summerhouse Equestrian.

It is now time to start to focus on what we all want to achieve with each horse during 2016, and there are some exciting horses in our yard this year...watch this space!  The Dassett graduates from last autumn are all getting on well in their new homes, and there have been a few new arrivals at our UK base, which are all settling in well so far.  We will keep you posted...
