Church Open Day

Posted on 20th May 2019 by

In September 2018, the lead was stolen from the roof of Fenny Compton Church. This made the roof penetrable to water and a severe downpour threatened the integrity of the roof and left the interior susceptible to damage.

Luckily, the roof was quickly made watertight, so limited damage was done, but it did render the church unusable for some months.

The church does have insurance, which goes some way to covering a replacement, but there are many other costs involved, which are not covered.

A Church Roof Fund has now been set up to help with these costs. Dassett Eventing are delighted to be hosting a Church Open Day in their grounds, to raise money towards the fund and contribute towards fantastic work that the church provides for the village community.

We do hope you can pop along and bring family and friends. We are excited to open our business up to the local community and show off our wonderful Dassett Event horses and explain a little about what they do. You will be able to watch them train for dressage, jump the showjumps and power over the cross country course. The little ones will be able to get a flavour of this, buy having a little ride on Toshy, our teeny tiny event prospect!

Once you have watched the eventing demonstrations, then you can wander up to the Dassett gardens, where you can play on the garden games, kindly borrowed from ‘The Kitchen’ in Farnborough.

There will be other stalls there too including craft and face art. But make sure you fill up with the delicious cake and refreshments, kindly donated by Dassett Eventing and baked by friends of DE and the local community.

It promises to be a fascinating afternoon for all the family and is supporting a really worthy cause.
