Cholmondeley Castle

Posted on 24th August 2021

This weekend. Amelia and Sue headed to Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire with three of the young guns for the BE100. It proved to be a very successful outing, as they all had great runs and finished up in the top ten.

The gorgeous Dassett Banker kicked off the day in style, putting in an excellent dressage test to score 23. He then jumped a great round showjumping, before storming round the cross country clear and inside the time to finish second in a competitive section. Originally produced as a pure showjumper, ‘Robin’ only started eventing this season and is absolutely loving his new career. He’s got a fantastic attitude and we can’t wait to see what else he’s capable of!

Amelia also rode six-year-old Kinetic Dassett to a fantastic third place in his 100 section. He did a stunning dressage test to score 21, and then jumped a great showjumping round. To finish the day, he flew round the cross country clear and inside the time, securing his podium finish. This exciting young horse oozes natural talent and is bound to achieve some great things in the near future.

Finally, Amelia piloted mega mare Hawthornstud Dassett to eighth place in her 100 section. After a lovely test for 27, she jumped a great showjumping round before cruising round the cross country, coming home just one second over the optimum time. At only five years old she is already finding this level very easy, showing her aptitude for higher level competition.

We were delighted with this cracking bunch of young horses, who all put in a fantastic effort. They all have such exciting careers ahead of them, and we can’t wait to see what else they can achieve.  The lorry didn’t get back to DEHQ till about 10PM, so we then we headed straight inside to watch the Olympic cross country from Tokyo. Everyone was knackered after such a long day, but it was so inspiring to watch the action!
